Former India captain Virat Kohli has hurriedly returned home from South Africa due to a family emergency, as disclosed by BCCI sources . Despite this unexpected departure, Kohli is anticipated to rejoin the Indian Test squad in time for the series against South Africa, with the first Test scheduled to commence on December 26.
Kohli, who had previously opted out of the white-ball leg of the tour along with Rohit Sharma, was part of the Indian squad set to play a two-Test series in South Africa.
In an additional setback for the team, batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will be sidelined from the series due to a finger fracture sustained while attempting to take a catch during the second ODI against South Africa earlier this week.
